Short Biography
Dr. Paul Carey is a Specialist Psychiatrist and the Medical Director for Mental Health and Substance Use for Interior Health.
Dr. Carey has been a clinical faculty member in the UBC Department of Psychiatry since 2012, and currently serves on the UBC Psychiatry Executive Committee. Prior to his appointment at UBC, he was an Associate Professor and Research Consultant in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Stellenbosch. In addition to his medical training, Dr. Carey also holds a PhD in Psychiatry and has published numerous peer-reviewed papers in international journals. His research focus has included Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, and more recently the effects of adolescent alcohol and methamphetamine use on adolescent development.
